Thai Massage combines the best of yoga, massage, meditation and energy work into a powerful healing modality. Among its many benefits, clients report an amazing ability for the massage to help remove tension, eliminate pain in the neck, shoulders, back and legs and to feel more youthful, deeply relaxed and refreshed.
That is because Thai Massage gets the body to move how it was designed while combining customized massage techniques. As such it helps clients to heal themselves naturally.
What’s more, you learn to give it as a meditation in loving kindness and compassion. As such the benefits are shared and they are profound. By design you’ll learn to massage so that it is at least as good to give as it is to receive.
These classes are designed for yoga teachers, massage therapists and those without any experience. In addition to the massage itself, yoga teachers will be able to gain confidence and knowledge for giving assists, incorporate Thai Massage into their classes and have a new treatment to offer private students. Massage therapists will be able to start offering a new modality to their clients right away. And those without any experience can give a high-level massage even after one weekend of training.
In Level 1 Thai Massage Foundations you will learn a complete 75-minute massage:
This is the first level of a two-part certification program. Students will be required to complete the two levels and a series of practice massages as part of the certification process, but will already be able to give a complete 75-minute massage after finishing this class.
Level 2 Thai Massage Foundations
This class builds on level one by adding 45 minutes of new massage techniques, reinforcing all Level 1 material, and introducing students to the fundamentals of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian healing system and sister science to yoga. Level 2 teaches students practical, hands-on methods for customizing the massage holistically in order to deepen the therapeutic quality of their practice.
As students learn the fundamentals of Ayurvedic principles and the three mind-body constitutions (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), they will apply these concepts to craft highly customized massages that address physical needs, enhance client relationships, and create a unique massage experience. Learning how to give massage with ones’ knees will help to reduce reliance on hands and thumbs and facilitate deep pressure massage.
Level 2 Foundations in Thai Massage focuses on:
Required reading: Thai Massage: Unlocking the Secrets of Universal Touch by Shai Plonski
Required Preparation: Ahead of level 2, there are Ayurveda videos and exercises that students will be asked to do ahead of class time to familiarize themselves with the three doshas and how to complete an ayurvedic questionnaire.
These courses are accredited with NCBTMB for continuing education and can be used as continuing education with Yoga Alliance.
