Words on Wellness
Casting into the New Year that is just around the corner, I sat (stood) with the idea of my new year’s intention or resolution. Whilst singing at the top of my lungs doing the laundry the word that popped into my mind was “thrive”.
Thrive. On first glance it seems a simple, maybe even too simple. But when I looked deeper into the relevance of this word I found that it summed up my new year’s intention perfectly. Because my intention is to be, do, know and act in all ways that allow me to thrive.
What does this mean to me?
It means less procrastination, more action. It means making time to see more of my friends and family. It means I know when to say no if something will take me over my limit. It means meditating daily, nourishing my body with all things good, educating myself on my favourite topics, reading, dancing, singing loudly, finding joy in the necessary things in life, doing more restorative practices and spreading Metta far and wide so that I allow myself the space to thrive.
In the context of Thai massage it means that I always enter treatments and a classroom like a novice – unassuming and always present so that I can best facilitate wellness and knowledge in others. In doing this, not only do I deepen my understanding and my experience, but I also deepen theirs.
So, this year I hold the space for my body, mind, spirit and practice to thrive this year. And if you don’t mind, I’ll also be holding the space for you to thrive.
