Thai Foot Reflexology

Prerequisites: None

Practice and enjoy massage techniques with and without oil, using a Thai foot stick to glide the lines and press the points with greater accuracy and precision than hands alone could provide. Learn a myriad of techniques to pamper and help every part of the foot towards rejuvenation and relaxation.

This program includes protocols to prepare the feet for massage, teaches you how to apply oils, and offers additional training for giving a 15-minute Thai massage for the rest of the body.

Students will have the option to learn and give these techniques on a Thai Massage mat or massage table.

These techniques have shown to have universal benefits both professionally and for friends and family, and former students include workers in a variety of therapeutic needs settings such as with the elderly, cancer patients and in hospice.

Experience with graduating students has shown that this is an invaluable service to offer to existing clients to keep them coming back for more and as a means for finding and retaining new clients. This is also a great course for new learners including couples or people who want to share an amazing massage with friends and family.

In this course students learn:

  • A complete 60 minute Thai Foot massage;
  • An additional 15 minute Thai Massage for the rest of the body;

Prerequisites: Thai 101 or equivalent training in Thai massage or other modality

Part 1: Table Thai massage can considerably expand your clientele, while giving you the tools to take even better care of your body and promote a sustainable massage career. Performed on a traditional massage table with the recipient fully clothed, this practice attracts a broad cross-section of people, including athletes, the elderly, overweight clients, and those who simply prefer to be massaged on a table. After completing this class students will be able to:

  • Give a 60-minute flowing Thai massage on a standard size massage table;
  • Apply Thai foot reflexology techniques without using the thumbs;
  • Use principles of proper body alignment to massage on and around the table in a way that is deeply efficient and effective.

Part 2: This course builds on the foundations learned in Table Thai 1 and expands students’ repertoire to two hours worth of massage techniques. During this course, students will:

  • Learn a new 60-minute flow while reviewing all postures and techniques taught in Table Thai 1;

Fascia and Thai Massage with Emily Delea

Prerequisites: Thai 101 or equivalent training in Thai massage or other modality

The human body functions a lot like a string puppet. For example, a left ankle sprain from ten years ago can cause a lot of trouble in the right shoulder. Fascial thickening or adhesions occurs in the body for many reasons. Injury, poor body mechanics, surgery, repetitive strain, and aging all cause the fascia to become thicker and less fluid. Learning how to identify the fascial lines (puppet strings) and how they effect the body’s alignment enables body workers to unwind the body and reduce fascial adhesions.

Thai massage is a fantastic modality that has as a direct impact on the fascia. Designing a treatment based not only on a client’s dosha but also on how their body is aligned will add a new, complementary layer to your practice and make those treatments even more effective.

Course material will cover:

  • Fascial lines;
  • Ability to see misalignments in the body;
  • How to design a treatment or treatment series for common restrictions; and
  • What exercises or stretches to give as homework

The Artistry of Thai Massage

Prerequisites: Thai 201 plus a minimum of one advanced course, or equivalent training in Thai Massage | 18 hours

NOTE: Students may retake this course unlimited times at no additional cost.

This course sheds light on the true heart of Thai massage mastery: creative instinct. In any massage, the practitioner faces hundreds of choices—between postures, palpation techniques, rhythm, acupressure, and the overall balance of energizing and relaxing techniques—all of which must be optimized for the recipient’s benefit and enjoyment. For the true Thai massage artist, these choices are ultimately expressed as a deeply engrained inner knowingness. But how can students work to achieve the same elegant, effective, and effortless massage without feeling overwhelmed by the options? How do we move beyond the structured format of classroom learning to find personal creative inspiration and a deeper, perhaps limitless potential in our practice?

  • Through hands-on practice, case studies, and group discussion, this course helps students to find and cultivate their inner artist by harnessing the powers of deep focus and creativity. Students will gain the ability to:
  • Use careful questioning and listening during the interview process to set a clear therapeutic intention, to settle on a flexible massage plan, and to start the session in the best way possible for the individual client; find the confidence and practical skill to begin the massage in any position the client’s needs may dictate;
  • Effectively balance the client’s spoken concerns with their own inner knowingness about that individual’s physical and energetic needs;
  • Go beyond their comfort zone, exploring the opportunities, limits, and challenges of alternative sequences—first through guided practice ‘models’ and then through free practice;
  • Problem-solve sequencing challenges with fellow students through case study group work;
  • Effectively and gracefully distill all of their skills into any length session, from 30 minutes to two hours; and
  • Apply their creative instincts in an exciting final massage, addressing a real-world client’s immediate concerns.
